We start with your manuscript, intended readers and publishing goals. Together, we consider whether an ebook, a print edition or both make sense for your project.

Before work begins, we confirm the formats, platforms, deliverables and responsibilities included in your proposal. You stay involved in the decisions about your book, including its description, pricing and release timing.

Manuscript Preparation Before Publication

A manuscript should be reviewed and finalised before it moves into production. We check the supplied material for publishing preparation needs, such as missing front matter, unclear chapter organisation or incomplete supporting information.

Editing and proofreading are separate services unless included in your project. If your manuscript still needs that work, we can discuss it before formatting begins.

Ebook Formatting

An ebook needs to remain readable across different screen sizes and reading settings. We prepare the agreed digital edition with organised chapters, consistent text styling and navigation suited to the format.

Books with complex tables, illustrations or unusual layouts may need a different approach. We review those requirements before confirming the file format and production scope.

Paperback and Hardcover Formatting

For print editions, we develop an interior layout around your chosen trim size and production requirements. This includes attention to margins, typography, chapter openings, page numbers and the placement of images where applicable.

We prepare the final interior file against the specifications supplied by your printer or publishing platform. Cover production files are coordinated with the interior dimensions where included in the project.

Front Matter and Back Matter

The pages around your main text help make the book feel complete. We can organise supplied material such as the title page, copyright page, dedication, contents, acknowledgements, author bio and references.

You approve the information used in these sections. Any specialist wording or permissions requirements are addressed separately before the files are finalised.

Book Details and Listing Setup

Your book listing gives readers the information they need to decide whether to explore further. We help organise the title, subtitle, author name, description and other details requested by the selected platform.

Where included, we can assist with category and keyword selection based on your book’s subject and audience. All listing information is reviewed with you before submission.

Publishing Platform Setup and Submission Support

We can assist with the agreed platform workflow, including preparing upload files, entering approved book details and reviewing available previews. Platform suitability and account requirements are confirmed at the start.

You retain control of your publishing account and approve key settings before submission. Account verification, payment details and any agreements requiring your acceptance are completed by you.

ISBN and Edition Planning

ISBN requirements and available options depend on the format and publishing route you choose. We help identify the applicable requirements and discuss the available options before setup.

Where relevant, we also clarify whose name will appear as the publisher or imprint and which ISBN-related tasks are included. ISBN purchases and other third-party charges are confirmed separately.

Preview Checks and Print Proofs

Before submission, we review the available digital previews for layout issues and check the agreed files against the supplied specifications. If you are publishing a print edition, ordering a physical proof gives you a chance to inspect the book before making it available.

We can help address production issues within the agreed scope. Platform approval, printing quality and processing times remain subject to the providers involved.
